Saturday, October 28th , 2006
The Newark Eagles got more than they expected out of Josh Bartell in 2006.

At the age of 36, there were questions about whether or not Bartell could still compete at a high level, but those questions were answered emphatically as he has won the Semi-Pro Baseball Circuit Reliever of the Year Award.

On the season, the Shiloh, Alabama native recorded 11 saves in 30 relief appearances and threw 61.2 innings. He recorded 55 strikeouts and 16 walks, while posting an opponent's batting average of .212.

He received 16 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Kevin Crawford of the Saskatoon Moose finished second in voting, while John Frost of the Quebec City Admirals finished third.
