Winnipeg Shortstop Weathington Will Retire Monday, August 3rd , 2026 Winnipeg Buffaloes shortstop Tyrone Weathington will retire at the end of the season, according to reports out of team headquarters. Weathington, 37, has been considering retirement since last season sources say, though he has declined to speak publicly about retirement. "Tyrone still likes baseball," one source said, "He wants to play, but he also knows he's getting up in age and the skills are not what he wants them to be. He says it's physically getting harder to go out there every day. That's why he's hanging up his spikes." Weathington has a lifetime .206 batting average and .296 on-base percentage in his 1000-game career with 687 hits and 47 home runs. |
