Hume Bashes 5 Base Hits Friday, July 31st , 2026 It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Denver Hume of the Sherbrooke Canadians. Hume went on a tear at Capitals Stadium and cracked hit after hit off Ottawa pitching. When the dust settled on the diamond, the 28-year-old catcher had a career 5-for-7 day and something he will long remember. "Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but I don't think I'll tell them we lost," he joked in the BNN postgame interview. Despite Hume's personal accolades, the Ottawa Capitals walked off the field with the 6-5 win. Denver Hume grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th, singled in the 11th, singled in the 13th and struck out in the 15th.
