Amato Stops El Paso (R) Cold, Mavericks Win, 3-0 Sunday, September 14th , 2025 The El Paso (R) Diablos were almost helpless in their 3-0 loss to the Houston (R) Mavericks and hurler Ryan Amato. Amato kept the Diablos confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout. "Tip your hat to Amato," El Paso (R) manager Gerardo Ruiz said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night." The 19-year-old right-hander had no walks and 5 strikeouts in a strong performance. "It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Amato said.
