El Paso first baseman Javier Blanco contributed significantly to his team's 10-2 win over the San Diego Roadrunners. Blanco, who finished 2nd in the WC in doubles with 27 last year, went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Diablos. Tetsuhiro Kawakami notched his 8th save in 11 chances. The Diablos sport a record of 60-27.

El Paso used the hitting of Aaron Shelby to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Diablos on top, 2-0. For the game, Shelby had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said San Diego manager Larry Link. "They pounded us."
