Soggy conditions did not keep Tampa Bay and Philadelphia from playing their scheduled game.

The Tampa Bay Thunder overcame a good performance by Philadelphia catcher Chris Frontera to knock off Philadelphia, 9-8, at Keystones Stadium. Frontera was 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Tampa Bay reliever Marcello Cowell was the winner. His record is now 2-2. The losing pitcher was Brandon Beech.

Ivan Villalva went 1 for 5. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Tampa Bay. The 23-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Brandon Beech. It was his 41st hit of the season.

Thunder manager Ray McKay wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."

After today's action, Tampa Bay sits at 39-46; Philadelphia slips to 25-60.
