The San Diego Roadrunners earned a win at Cutter's Cove, knocking off the Denver Cutthroats, 6-5. On the bump for San Diego was right-hander Olaf Hoffman. He had a starring role in the triumph. The winner was Hoffman. He threw 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Jouko Niemelä. Matt Boatright was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 5 of 10 save opportunities.
San Diego used a clutch at-bat from Josh Ball to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Roadrunners ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Hoffman told reporters after the game: "All's well that ends well."
The Roadrunners improved their record to 40-43 by beating Denver.
