Minnesota and San Diego duked it out and the Loons came out victorious.

The Minnesota Loons picked up a win at Tony Gywnn Park, topping the San Diego Roadrunners, 4-1. On the mound for Minnesota was right-hander Jonathan Woods. He played a principal role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Woods, now 9-2. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 6. Alejandro Olivarez got credit for the save for Minnesota. It was his 8th of the year.

Minnesota took advantage of an error in the top of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 1-1, when Adolfo Milagres hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Loons in front, 2-1.

"When you have a good rhythm and good flow, it's nice to just go out there and pound the strike zone with confidence," said Woods.

The win boosted Minnesota to 33-26.
