The Denver Cutthroats overcame a big game from San Diego right fielder Ryan Merrill to pick up a win at Tony Gywnn Park. The final score was 5-4, Denver, in 10 innings. Merrill went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The winner in relief was Daniel Sainato. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4.2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-0. The 9th-place Roadrunners dropped to 17-23.

Denver used the timely hitting of Matt Jackson to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Cutthroats on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Cutthroats manager Tyler Montgomery.
