The El Paso Diablos downed the Houston Mavericks, 7-1, at Mavericks Ballpark. Stellar pitching by Jason Roether had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who led the WC in wins with 14 in 2023, handcuffed his opponent all game. Roether picked up the win for El Paso, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 8-3. The Western Circuit-leading Diablos have a record of 38-20.

The Diablos got a big at-bat from right fielder Eric Eriksen. For the game, Eriksen went 1 for 4 with a double and a walk. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 16th double of the season gave El Paso a 1-0 lead.

"Jason set the tone with his ability to attack the hitters," said El Paso manager Joe Peters.
