The Minnesota Loons, despite a fine performance by Arizona pitcher Orlando Ortiz, grabbed a 2-1 win at Desert Crown Park. Ortiz allowed 2 runs over 5.1 innings. Minnesota reliever Alex Soto picked up the win, raising his record to 2-0. Orlando Ortiz was tagged with the loss. The save was credited to Bryan Brown, his 7th.

Robert DeRosa, who is on pace for 55 RBI this season, had a direct impact on the outcome. DeRosa contributed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Minnesota up, 2-0.

"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Loons manager Brian Hughes, "I like our chances."
