Both teams had their chances, but the Detroit Motors eventually prevailed.

The Chicago Union got a sterling performance from pitcher Leonardo Basora, but the Detroit Motors still prevailed, 5-4. Basora threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Detroit reliever Sam Charette was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Josh Kingsbury took the loss.

Detroit took a 5-4 lead on Huibert Zwiers's 5th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Zwiers hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Chicago pitcher Josh Kingsbury visibly frustrated.

Zwiers said his team "played with focus and determination."

The Motors improved their record to 23-25 by beating Chicago.
