Roadrunners Earn Late Win
|
Behind the hitting of Ryan Merrill, the San Diego Roadrunners clipped the San Francisco Peanuts, 6-5. Merrill went 4 for 4 with 4 singles. He drove in 3 runs for the Roadrunners. The winner was San Diego reliever Justin Johnson, now 2-6. The loser was Evan Rich. The 9th-place Roadrunners have a record of 14-22.
Jon Nelson came through with a big-time hit for San Diego. The designated hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 6-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I just try to be a dog, have good swings, good at-bats," said Nelson.
