Players get multi-hit games all the time, but 5-hit ones are a whole lot rarer. It happened at Cutter's Cove when Casey Batten of Denver scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the San Francisco Peanuts.
He went 5-for-5 in a career performance to help the Cutthroats get by the Peanuts, 10-6. The first baseman was in a talkative and jovial mood after the game, saying his swing "was really, really there today."
"I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens, good things happen," he said. "You know, like going 5-for-5. I could get used to days like this."
Casey Batten singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and doubled in the 8th.
In this current campaign Batten is hitting at a .297 clip with 2 home runs and 13 RBIs.
