The Denver Cutthroats did just enough to sneak past the Minnesota Loons, 5-4, at Cutter's Cove. Denver pitcher Ki-tae Jung, in particular, had a standout performance. The loss drops the Loons to 1-1.
Had Stephen Barker not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Barker hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Cutthroats.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Barker told the Denver Chronicle.
