The Chicago Union and Washington Warriors duked it out at Warriors Park.

Getting a good performance from shortstop Bubba Marino, the Chicago Union defeated the Washington Warriors, 7-6. Marino went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles for the Union. Chicago reliever Nick Van Deventer picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Ryan Embree was saddled with the loss.

Sam Chapman delivered a big hit for Chicago. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Union ahead, 7-6. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

Chapman said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."

The Union, now 11-3, have played inspired baseball.
