Auwina Slaps 5 Hits Saturday, September 23rd , 2023 Even as a kid, Abiram Auwina said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Bruins Stadium, Auwina showed how well he learned that lesson. The 31-year-old left fielder had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Vancouver Grizzlies, helping his team knock off the Southern California Empires by a score of 14-3. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did." Abiram Auwina singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
