Saskatoon Snaps Walston Streak at 20 Friday, September 22nd , 2023 For once, it was the Vancouver Grizzlies picking up the slack for Jason Walston. The club's "offensive catalyst," as Vancouver manager Han Won has frequently called him, went uncharacteristically silent and saw his 20-game hitting streak snapped by the Saskatoon Moose. Walston was bailed out by the rest of the Grizzlies, however, who stopped the Moose, 3-2. The 28-year-old center fielder finished the day 0-for-4, and told reporters at the postgame press conference that "everybody did their job but me." "Not that it was a huge problem -- we still won the game," he said with a grin. "The streak was a good run though. I'll try to start another one tomorrow." Currently Walston is hitting .292 and has collected 19 home runs, 54 RBIs and scored 77 times, while playing in 131 games. |
