Parra Holds Southern California Scoreless
The Southern California Empires were almost helpless in their 2-0 loss to the Green Bay Braves and hurler Manuel Parra. Parra kept the Empires confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Parra," Southern California manager Matt Thompson said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 33-year-old right-hander had 2 walks and 10 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Parra said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

To this point in the season, Parra shows a 1-4 record, 8 starts, 59 innings, 56 strikeouts and a 3.36 ERA.
