The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.

Tim Platt helped his team muscle past the El Paso Diablos, 7-6. In the game, the Houston first baseman went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Tristan Thompson snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 3 innings. He's now 2-0 on the season.

Platt contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Houston in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 3-2, Platt took a fastball from Cortez Crus and stroked the double to left. His 2nd double of the season allowed the Mavericks to leap in front, 4-3.

"I was making good contact tonight," said Platt.

The Diablos fall to 5-6 and continue their wobbly start to the 2021 season.
