Game 5 was big. So was Jason Roether.

The El Paso starter rose to the occasion at Garibaldi's Grounds, leading the Diablos to a crucial 7-2 victory over the San Francisco Peanuts. Roether threw 8.0 innings allowing 2 runs as the Diablos won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Cup Qualifier.

In the top of the 4th, El Paso took the lead on a 2-run home run by Aaron Shelby. At the time, the Diablos were trailing 1-0, but Shelby's hit with two outs against San Francisco pitcher Josh Hunt put them in front, 2-1.

Said Diablos manager Joe Peters: "We're playing a good brand of baseball."

The next game is set to be played for Friday, October 15th , 2021 at Inferno Field in El Paso.
