When the stakes were high, Jason Roether raised his game to match.

The right-handed Roether turned in a stellar performance in Game 2 of the Pro Circuit Cup, pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the El Paso Diablos to victory. He allowed 5 hits and struck out 5. The win gave El Paso a 2-0 lead over the Toronto Titans in the best-of-7 series.

Roether went the distance for El Paso, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 5.

"Jason is a gamer," said El Paso manager Joe Peters.

Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday at Titans Fields in Toronto.
