Southern California Takes Play-in Series
It's a sweet sweep for the Southern California Empires and they have won the Play-in Series. The Vacaville Steelheads were not able to keep pace with the Empires and dropped the series in short order, losing, 2-1, in the deciding game.

"This wasn't really the effort we hoped for," said Vacaville manager Mark Mastronardi.

It's now on to the Circuit Championship Series for Southern California after their 2-0 series win.

Leading the way for the winners was first baseman Mike Nelson, who was named MVP. For the series, Nelson hit .600 with a .750 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 2 runs.

The Circuit Championship Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Play-in Series finishes.
