Starting pitcher Alex Perez pitched well enough to help the Detroit Motors beat the Boston Shamrocks, 4-3. Detroit reliever Manny Molina picked up the win, raising his record to 3-1. Akihisa Shibuya was tagged with the loss. The 'W' lifts Detroit's record to 26-29.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Detroit. That's when Bill Sposito hit a 2-run double off 30-year old left-handed pitcher Akihisa Shibuya to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Boston skipper Wally Christensen.
