Lions Lose to Blues in Walk-Off
|
The New York City Blues bested the St. Louis Lions by a score of 4-2, with second baseman Dennis Hill getting the main credit. On the day, Hill went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times for the Blues. The win was credited to 27-year old right-handed pitcher George Spence in relief. His record improves to 3-5. Jack Reynolds took the loss. New York City is now 22-31, St. Louis 33-20.
New York City got a clutch hit from Josh Leavens. The designated hitter launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.
"We put together a nice win," Leavens said.
