Who needs batting practice? Apparently not Miami Sun Sox third baseman Joe Wheatley, who missed the team's pre-game session but peppered the visiting Dallas Texans for 5 hits come game time. The Sun Sox went on to take the 13-0 win.
"I was late to the park and I wasn't sure coach was even going to keep me in the lineup," he told the press after the game. "Maybe I should skip BP more often."
Joe Wheatley singled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Dusty Lang in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and singled in the 6th.
For the season, Wheatley is currently batting .254 with 2 home runs and 17 RBIs. In 52 games he has reached base at a .273 rate and scored 30 runs to date.
