Blues Win Pitchers' Duel, 2-0, Versus Shamrocks
|
The New York City Blues claimed a close win over the Boston Shamrocks, due in large part to Danny Brannigan. The New York City right-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-0 win. In 6.2 innings, Brannigan surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. The Blues have a winning streak of 5 games.
New York City third baseman Sam Abel contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 79th hit of the season and put the Blues ahead, 2-0.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Brannigan told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
