The St. Louis Lions picked up a win at The Lions Hearth, dropping the Las Vegas Aces, 5-3. Ryan Williams, who is tied for 2nd in the PBC in complete games with 5, was the difference-maker. Williams yielded 3 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 9. His record improves to 7-0. The first-place Lions have a one-game lead in their division.
The Lions got a big at-bat from right fielder Justin Hughes. For the game, Hughes went 1-4 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 6th double of the season gave St. Louis a 3-2 lead.
"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Hughes after the game.
