Detroit had no answer for Houston Mavericks hurler Melvin Palacios, who overwhelmed Motors hitters as the Mavericks coasted to victory, 8-1. The winning pitcher was Palacios, now 2-1. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 6 and fanning 9. Tristan Thompson earned the save for Houston, his 2nd of the year.

Danny Falchonelli hit a 2-run triple off Jun Kimura in the bottom of the third, which put the Mavericks in front, 2-1. In addition to the triple, Falchonelli had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 4.

"I'm happy we won," said Palacios. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
