Atlanta played host to Detroit at The Hangar.

The Atlanta Pilots weathered a fine game by Detroit catcher Gabe Espinoza to upend the Motors, 6-3, at The Hangar. Espinoza slugged 2 home runs. Mark Lawrence was the winner. He's now 2-1. The loser was 26-year old right-handed pitcher Jun Kimura.

Sandy Rivas had a big run-scoring triple for the Pilots in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Atlanta leading 3-2 and a runner on 2nd, he got a splitter from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Jun Kimura and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pilots ahead, 4-2.

"Pleased with the effort and the win," said Pilots manager Erik Swartzwelder.

The Motors fall to 5-7 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2021 season.
