In a remarkable performance, Edmonton Drillers starter Gaballah Mutahi beat the Southern California Empires, 1-0, in an impressive 2-hit shutout.

"My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this."

The Drillers hurler finished with 10 strikeouts and no walks. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.

"It was a rough one for my guys," Southern California manager Matt Thompson said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."

This year, Mutahi has worked 144.2 innings with 147 strikeouts en route to a 8-7 record and a 3.86 ERA.
