Beech Muzzles Miami Offense
Thursday, September 12th , 2019
Brandon Beech of the Philadelphia Keystones was on top of his game.
The 27-year-old tantalized the Miami Sun Sox with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 4-0.
"He had the changeup working," Miami manager Barry Lolicht said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Philadelphia hurler had 8 strikeouts, gave up 2 walks and surrendered 2 hits in his complete-game effort.
Beech told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
To date this season, Beech is 10-5 with 19 starts and an ERA of 2.55 with 200 strikeouts in 148 innings.
