Chargers Get One to Win
The Detroit Chargers did little to support starter Marcus Smith against the D.C. Potomacs, but it turned out he didn't need the help.

The left-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Potomacs, striking out 5 and surrendering 2 hits. The performance from Smith allowed Detroit to escape with the 1-0 win, despite an anemic offense.

"Nobody came to me and said, 'Marcus, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Smith told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."

This season, Smith has a 4-1 record with a 2.74 ERA.
