Thunder Get Past Miami for 3-2 Win
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Tampa Bay Thunder and the Miami Sun Sox, pitcher Dylan Wilson was the difference between victory and defeat. The Tampa Bay right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Thunder win. Wilson got the win, improving to 4-0. He gave up 5 hits and walked 4 over 8 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Dylan Smith earned the save for Tampa Bay, his 4th of the year.
Justin McElveen, who finished 3rd in the PBC in triples with 4 in 2017, took Miami hurler Aaron Laughlin deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 2-run home run put the Thunder on top, 3-2. In all, McElveen had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"I felt good out of the gates," said Wilson.
The Thunder, at 17-18, inhabit 5th place in the PBC East Division.
