With second baseman Brandon Davenport leading the charge, the Boston Shamrocks defeated the New York City Blues, 6-4, at Blues Field. Davenport was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while scoring 3 runs. John Leew was the winner. Over 5 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Akihisa Shibuya stitched up the save, his 3rd.

There was more than one reason the Shamrocks beat the Blues, but Davenport's big at-bat in the top of the third was an important factor. He staked his team to a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.

Boston manager Wally Christensen was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.

The Shamrocks saw their win-loss record go to 15-18. At the same time, the Blues fell to 12-21.
