Shamrocks Turn Away Warriors, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Boston Shamrocks and the Washington Warriors, John Leew, who finished 4th in the PBC in ERA with 2.68 in 2017, proved to be the difference. The Boston right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Shamrocks win. Boston is 10-11 and Washington, with the loss, 8-13.
The Shamrocks got a big at-bat from first baseman Don Belling. For the game, Belling went 1-4 with a home run. In the top of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Boston a 2-1 lead.
"I was just trying to be aggressive and fill up the zone," said Leew.
