St. Louis Nets 5-4 Win Versus Peanuts

San Francisco catcher Carl Neville was sensational. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. St. Louis beat the Peanuts, 5-4. St. Louis reliever Jack Reynolds picked up the win, while Rafael Martinez took the loss for San Francisco. St. Louis is off to a hot start at 7-2.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman George Hendriks came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing San Francisco pitcher Rafael Martinez, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting St. Louis on top, 5-4.
Hendriks said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
