Diablos Get Thrilling 9-8 Win
Despite a great performance by Dallas designated hitter Ajani Fears, the El Paso Diablos defeated the Texans by the score of 9-8 in 12 innings at Inferno Field. Fears went 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. David Gandarilla, who is a three-time All-Star, earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. The Diablos, now 6-0, have hit the ground running this season.

The decisive blow was delivered by Dan Meyer in the bottom of the 12th when he hit a solo home run off 26-year old right-handed pitcher Mark Catlett to win the game for El Paso. The home crowd went nuts.

"Walking a team off at the end -- there's no greater feeling," said Meyer.
