Williford Rips 2 Homers in 8-4 Win
|
A good performance from catcher Bob Williford helped the Denver Cutthroats defeat the St. Louis Lions, 8-4. Williford hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for the Cutthroats. Kyle Fox, the winning pitcher, is now 6-7. He went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 3. Won-keun Baek earned the save for Denver, his 8th of the year.
In the top of the seventh, the Cutthroats grabbed the lead when Williford hit his 5th home run of the season. The solo home run off T.J. Jones made it 5-4, Denver.
"We were able to put some good swings on some pitches," Williford told the Denver News.
Denver now has a record of 33-24 with the win.
