El Paso pitcher Jesse Steele did his part in helping his team beat the Miami Sun Sox, 4-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Steele yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 11-2. Ryan Matlock notched his 9th save of the season.
Luis Lopez delivered a big hit for El Paso. The catcher drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Diablos ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
In postgame remarks, Lopez applauded his team's "business-like approach."
Now 41-12, El Paso has won 11 consecutive games.
