Warriors Lose, 4-2, at The Motor Yard
|
Fernando Palomino, who is tied for 8th in the PBC in wins with 8, had a strong outing for the Detroit Motors against the Washington Warriors at The Motor Yard. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. The winning pitcher was Palomino, now 8-5. He tossed 5 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 9. Dennis Garrison earned the save for Detroit, his 1st of the year.
Sandy Rivas had a big 2-run double for the Motors in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Detroit leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Julio Fernandez Jr. and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 16th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Motors ahead, 4-1.
"Fernando's focus was outstanding. The way he handled every moment -- when there was a little trouble, he didn't lose his tempo or his rhythm," said Detroit manager Sean Morgan.
With the win, the Motors have a record of 33-31.
