El Paso Takes 1-0 Series Lead with Walk-off Win
|
The El Paso Diablos combined strong pitching and timely hitting to take Game 1 of the Cup Qualifier, 2-1, in a walk-off win over the Las Vegas Aces.
The Diablos got a solid performance from starter Kyle Haley. The right-handed Haley threw 6.0 innings allowing 1 run in the win, which gave the Diablos a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-7 series.
The decisive blow was delivered by Luis Reyes in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 30-year old left-handed pitcher Chris Thompson to win the game for El Paso. The home crowd went nuts.
Haley attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Inferno Field in El Paso.
