The performance of Sebastian Becton proved critical in helping New York City beat Tampa Bay, 7-6. The Blues center fielder went 2 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. New York City reliever Steve Peckham picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Ismael Villafan was saddled with the loss. John McClinton was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 13 save opportunities.

Justin Fogle had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With no one out and the bases loaded, the New York City shortstop hit a 2-run single. That put the Blues in front, 4-3.

"We didn't play well enough to win," Tampa Bay skipper Ray McKay said.
