Though he had a stellar game, Aaron Shelby could not prevent his team, the El Paso Diablos, from losing, 7-3, to the San Francisco Peanuts. Shelby was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The winning pitcher was Cortez Crus. His record now stands at 8-5. The left-hander went 7.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits for the Peanuts. Picking up his 11th save was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Chris McCarty.

San Francisco won the game in part because of Pat Hitchcock. The first baseman ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Peanuts ahead, 3-1. For the game, Hitchcock had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"We didn't get the results that we wanted," said El Paso skipper Joe Peters.
