Powered by Matt Weber, the St. Louis Lions downed the Dallas Texans, 9-4. Weber went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 4 for the Lions. The winning pitcher was Paul Easterling. His record now stands at 3-4. The right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits for the Lions. The win boosted St. Louis to 30-24.
With St. Louis trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the third, Weber hit a cutter from Gart Jansen for a grand slam home run. It was his 20th home run of the season and put the Lions ahead, 5-3.
"Just trying to keep things simple and helping the team win any way I can," Weber told a local reporter after the game.
