In a low-scoring game between the Denver Cutthroats and the Chicago Union, pitcher Jon Brandman was the difference-maker. The Denver left-hander was tough as nails in the 1-0 Cutthroats win. Tom Humphries snagged the win in relief. He goes to 3-0 on the season. Victor Morilla suffered the loss. The Cutthroats, at 36-38, inhabit 5th place in the PBC West Division.

The decisive blow was delivered by Luis Martinez in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off 24-year old left-handed pitcher Victor Morilla to win the game for Denver. The home crowd went nuts.

"For the most part, I didn't think they knew what was coming," said Brandman.
