Motors Turn Away Shamrocks, 8-6
|
The Detroit Motors downed the Boston Shamrocks, 8-6, at The Motor Yard. The Motors were led by Huibert Zwiers. Zwiers was 3-3 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Iulio Faletau went 7 innings for Detroit to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs. He scattered 7 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 8. His record improves to 5-5. With the win, the Motors hiked their record to 36-27.
With Detroit leading 2-0 in the bottom of the third, Zwiers hit a fastball from Chris Allen for a 2-run double. It was his 7th double of the season and put the Motors ahead, 4-0.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Zwiers, "but we got it done."
