New York City Blues starter John Hunter pitched effectively against the Boston Shamrocks at Shamrock Grounds. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 8-2 win. So far in 2017, New York City is 27-33.

Mike Nelson had a big 3-run home run for the Blues in the top of the fourth inning. With New York City leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a slider from Pat Musser and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 6th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blues ahead, 5-0.

"We took it on the chin tonight," said losing manager Wally Christensen.
