Lions Get Plucky, 5-4 Win Over Warriors
|
Washington got a valiant performance from pitcher Manuel Parra, but it wasn't enough to beat the St. Louis Lions. St. Louis won the game, 5-4. Parra came in in relief and pitched to 23 batters for the losing team. St. Louis reliever Christophe Georges picked up the win, upping his record to 2-4. Ashton Williams absorbed the loss. The victory gives the Lions a record of 17-14.
The decisive blow was delivered by Will Bruhn in the bottom of the 12th when he hit a run-scoring double off 32-year old right-handed pitcher Ashton Williams to win the game for St. Louis. The home crowd went nuts.
"I like our moxie," said Lions manager Leo Cruz.
