Peanuts Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Union, 3-1
|
Dave Carlson, who is tied for 5th in the PBC in strikeouts with 54, was in top form in a tight contest between San Francisco and Chicago. The Peanuts right-hander helped his team beat the Union, 3-1. Chris McCarty picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-1. Fidel Santiago, who finished 3rd in the PBC in saves with 17 in 2014, was tagged with the loss. The 4th-place Peanuts have won 4 consecutive games.
San Francisco got a clutch hit from Steve Wells. The second baseman launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
"I still think this team can play even better," Carlson told the San Francisco Herald.
